Tomato thief identified, captured on film...

08chipmunk...but not captured in person. ("In person" = "in chipmunk.") Capture is too strong:  I wouldn't really want to detain the little fellow – if he needs that tomato-y goodness so bad, he's welcome to his share. But it would be nice if he and his associates left a liiiiitle more for me.  Let's not get greedy, munks! (I hope when this brazen booty-snatcher sees his pic on the internet, he'll be so embarrassed, he'll hide out for a while.)

Please don't swim or fish in my front yard

08msdwarning
Due to a little (ahem) sewage overflow I had bubblin' up from a vent in my front yard earlier this Spring – now fixed! now fixed! – the Metropolitan Sewer District sent me this sign to post, presumably down by the street.

So. Now you know what you can't do in my front yard. The summer just got a whole lot less fun.

P.S. As we were pulling into the driveway this evening, we saw a bunny rabbit sitting idly in the front yard. Sheila B said: "He better not try to play, swim or fish."

Please come visit my Poison Ivy farm...

AKA my front yard, back yard and side yards. Wait -- this is Poison Ivy, isn't it? Can anybody tell? I know: I'll rub it on my arm and see if is.

My retaining wall doesn't retain. At least not water.

08retainingwall2_2

I learned that in Friday's downpour, the hardest and longest it's rained since I moved into Stately Walt Manor in March '06. It really put the "retaining wall" on the east side of my house to the proverbial test.

08retainingwall

Yeah, it failed.

"Walt," writes James Maguire, "We're alive!"

Walt: I had a sudden impulse and I visted Waltnow.com. What a great piece of art [on the 70s flashback photo.] Abstract, concrete, and totally you!

I am reminded of when I went off to freshmen year of college and realized...hey, I'm actually alive! And now that I'm a million years old, I'm still (I hope) alive. And enjoying WaltNow.

Hope all is well with you,

James Maguire, journalist, author, editor, Maguire Online

p.s. Could WaltNow be as it is if the 1960s hadn't happened?

James:

"If you remember the 60s, you weren't there." - Robin Williams

"To know the world one must construct it." - Cesare Pavese

"Be happy. For this moment is your life." - Omark Khayyam

"What? Me Worry?" - Alfred E. Newman

Live, dammit!

Walt
